Sunday Stash and a Sewing Room Clean Up

A candid post about my sewing space.  And a fabric obsession confession.

BEFORE:  This is how my sewing room looked last week.

I prefer a clutter free work area.  Being between projects, I just knew....   Things needed to change.

After spending the entire day sorting through old fabric, washing plastic totes, cleaning shelving and reorganizing, I posted a picture on instagram, showing a small portion of the shelf now being empty.

Oh, that susanc269.... She cracks me up!

Sharing on instagram has opened up a whole new world of interaction with other fabric hoarders and quilt lovers.

If you are on instagram,I'd love to see you there!  Follow me here.

Of course I knew more fabric was coming shortly.  There was an order expected to arrive on Monday.

So on Saturday I also went shopping for some new storage bins.

It did hurt to spend money on bins instead of even more fabric, but it was so worth it!

Fresh from Fabric Spot, this bevy of beautiful new fabric was hand delivered on Monday by our friendly neighbourhood Canada Post rural route delivery lady.  I thanked her with an early Christmas gift when I handed her this Christmas table runner in exchange.

Looking at these new purchases...

You might just say I went {hedge} HOG wild.

Or maybe you could say I went a little NUTS.

Either way.... I won't disagree.  But I am not one little bit sorry either!
Time to dig in and make something new!

AFTER:  This is how my sewing room looks.... For now!!!

Look out!  I think I see some room left in a few of those bins!

Modern Lattice Friday Finish

On Monday I took part in the Jolly Bar Blog Hop and wanted to share this cute little finish here as my Friday finish.  For those of you who read my Monday post... Don't leave yet....  There's a BIG surprise at the bottom of the post!

I chose Lakeside Gatherings by Primitive Gatherings.

Lakeside Gatherings has a masculine feel, with the navies and greys, and those cool anchor prints.  I love the visual interest afforded by the checked and woven prints, too.  Those are all offset by a bit of brightness with the yellows, creams and off white prints.

This handsome little thing was a quick put together.

Along with one Jolly Bar, only 1 fat quarter was needed for background, a half yard for binding, and 1.5 yards for backing.  Perfect for a last minute baby shower gift!

Just what is a Jolly Bar?  It's a new product, exclusively available from Fat Quarter Shop.

This little treat is just the right size.  Perfect for when you would like a little more than a charm pack.  It's half the size of a layer cake; 42 pieces of 5" x 10" cuts from these great Moda collections.  Each Jolly Bar comes with an exclusive Fat Quarter Shop coordinating pattern.

And that's not all!

Within each Jolly Bar collection, the FQS has hidden four Golden Tickets, and each is a $50 gift certificate to Fat Quarter Shop! That means, there are sixteen total Golden Tickets that are up for grabs, but they are only in the first batch of Jolly Bars.  You must pre-order for a chance to get one.

I just straight line quilted with my walking foot along the seam lines and double outlined the little white diamonds.  The background, binding and backing were all straight out of my stash.

This quilt finish was the 18th use of my 100 labels ordered from

Modern Lattice
approximately 36" x 48"
